How to record your voice online  

Step 1. Import your video or select stock media  

To import your own videos, photos, and audio, click on the import media button in the your media tab on the toolbar to browse your computer files, or connect your OneDrive.  

You can also use free stock media like video clips, video backgrounds, and stock music. Click on the content library tab on the toolbar and click on the visuals drop down arrow, then videos. Search through the different stock categories using the search bar as well. 

Drag and drop your video onto the timeline.  

Step 2. Locate the voice recorder and allow microphone access 

Click on the record & create tab on the toolbar, then click on the audio option.  

If you have never used the audio recorder before, a popup window will appear with microphone access options. Click on the allow button on the popup dialog. This will allow Clipchamp to use the microphone on your device. Don’t forget to do a mic test once you have give access.  

Step 3. Record your voiceover using the voice recorder  

To start recording your voiceover online, click on the red button. You can also select your microphone source, do a mic test, and turn off or on the speaker coach feature to assist your voice recording.  

Record up to 30 minutes of voice recordings. A timer will display at the bottom of your screen to show how long your voice recording is. When you’re ready to stop recording your voice, click on the stop button.  

Next, preview your voiceover using the play button. You can redo your voiceover by clicking on the retake recording button. If you’re happy with your voiceover, click on the save and edit button to save and return to the editor. 

Note: If you would like to exit the voice recorder without saving, click on the X button. Next, click on the exit button.  

Once you have clicked the save and exit button, your voice recording will now appear on the timeline below your video clips. Your voiceover will automatically download as an MP3 or webm file to your device and can be found in your downloads folder. 

Note: your voice recording will appear on the timeline as a new media asset.  

Step 4. Preview and save your video  

Before saving your voiceover video, make sure to preview by clicking on the play button. When you’re ready to save, click on the export button and select a video resolution. We recommend saving all videos in 1080p video resolution for the best quality. Paid subscribers can save in 4K video resolution.

Generate captions to assist your voiceover  

Adding captions to your voiceover video is ideal for creating accessibility, clarity, and make your videos look more professional. Sometimes viewers can be watching your video on mute, so your voiceover might not be heard. Generate real-time captions and download a video transcript using the autocaptions feature to assist your voiceover.   

Fade in and out audio  

If you want to create suspense or shift the focus from one character narrative to another, add a fade in or out to your voice recording. Using the fade tab on the property panel, fade in and out any video audio in seconds.  

Speed up or slow down the pace  

Your online voice recording can sometimes be too fast or too slow for the pace of your video. Instead of recording your voice again, just edit the speed of your voiceover using the speed selector on the property panel.  

Adjust the volume of your voice  

Having trouble hearing your voiceover? Adjust the volume of your voice recording using the audio tab on the property panel. Here, you can make your voice recording louder or softer using the volume booster slider.  

Add soft background music  

Put the final touches on your voiceover video by adding royalty-free background music. Check out our free stock audio tracks you can add to any video. Just click on the content library tab on the toolbar, then select the audio category. Don’t forget to turn down the volume of your music track so it doesn’t interfere with your voiceover.
